उपाय · Remedies

The right remedy is the one your chart asks for.

Mantra, daan, vrat, gemstones and sacred items — the five classical families of upay, explained honestly, with clear guidance on which one fits which affliction and which ones never to self-prescribe.

Which remedy does your chart actually need?

Enter your birth details once — we'll check your chart against Mangal Dosha, Sade Sati, the Rahu-Ketu axis, Kaal Sarp and Pitra Dosh, and show you exactly which upay applies to you.

Your details are used only to compute your chart and are never shared.

The five families of upay

Each remedy family asks a different price from you — time, money, comfort or ego. The right prescription is one you can actually sustain.

🕉️

Mantra

मंत्र उपाय

Recitation of a graha's mantra, ideally on its own weekday — Shani on Saturday, Mangal on Tuesday. Costless, safe to begin, and the foundation most prescriptions rest on.

Spends: time & steadiness
🎁

Daan

दान उपाय

Giving items linked to the afflicted graha — sesame and oil for Shani, red lentils and copper for Mangal, blankets for Rahu — done regularly on the graha's day.

Spends: money & attachment
🌙

Vrat

व्रत उपाय

Fasting on the day ruled by the troubling graha. The discipline and intention behind the vrat matter more than its severity — never undertake it against medical advice.

Spends: comfort & appetite
💎

Ratna & Yantra

रत्न / यंत्र उपाय

Gemstones and yantras strengthen a graha's energy. Powerful — and the only family that can genuinely backfire, because strengthening the wrong planet amplifies the problem.

Spends: money · needs chart check
📿

Sacred Items

सिद्ध वस्तु उपाय

Consecrated items worn or kept at home — rudraksha for the nodal grahas and Mangal, yantras for Lakshmi energy — maintaining a quiet, continuous alignment.

Spends: one-time cost

Remedies by graha & dosha

General classical prescriptions. Before a gemstone or an expensive ritual, verify the affliction in your own chart — that verification is free here.

Shani — Saturn
शनि · discipline, delay, karma
Classical practices

Saturday vrat; regular daan of black sesame, mustard oil or footwear to those in need; Shani stotra or the Dashrath-krit Shani stotra; Hanuman upasana — long held to be the gentlest route to Saturn's grace; a karungali (ebony) item for continuous alignment.

Conduct half

Shani rewards honest labour and punctuality. Cutting corners at work while doing Saturday vrat cancels the remedy from within — discipline in daily conduct is the Shani upay.

Blue sapphire (neelam) is Saturn's stone and the fastest-acting gem in the tradition — in both directions. Never wear it without a full chart analysis.
Rahu
राहु · obsession, anxiety, sudden turns
Classical practices

Rahu beej mantra in committed counts; daan of blue or dark cloth, blankets and coconut; Durga upasana; keeping mornings screen-free and routines steady — Rahu's affliction feeds on chaos and overstimulation.

Conduct half

Avoid shortcuts, speculation binges and borrowed ambitions during a difficult Rahu period. Traditionally, loans and major signings are not initiated during Rahu Kaal — check today's window on the Panchang page.

Hessonite (gomed) should only be considered after confirming Rahu functions as a benefic for your lagna — for many charts it does not.
Mangal — Mars
मंगल · heat, conflict, impatience
Classical practices

Hanuman Chalisa on Tuesdays — the most widely prescribed Mangal remedy in the tradition; daan of masoor dal, copper or red cloth; Mangal stotra; channelling Mars physically through exercise and sport, which the older teachers considered a remedy in itself.

Conduct half

If Mangal is afflicted, postpone confrontations — especially on Tuesdays. The upay is as much about where the heat goes as about the ritual.

Red coral (moonga) inflames as easily as it empowers. Verify Mangal is a functional benefic for your lagna before wearing it.
Ketu
केतु · detachment, drift, the unfinished past
Classical practices

Ganesha upasana — Ketu's traditional pacifier; daan of mixed black-and-white sesame; Ketu stotra; feeding street dogs, long associated with the nodal grahas; meditation practices that give Ketu's detachment a constructive outlet.

Before anything else

Verify the placement. Ketu in several houses is quietly excellent and needs no remedy at all — treating a well-placed Ketu is wasted effort.

Cat's eye (lehsunia) is a fast, unpredictable stone. It belongs at the very end of the remedy ladder, never at the start.
🐍
Kaal Sarp Dosh
काल सर्प · all planets within the Rahu–Ketu axis
Classical practices

The Trimbakeshwar puja is the most classical prescription; Mahamrityunjaya jaap; Nag Panchami observance; Shiva upasana on Mondays as an ongoing gentle practice.

Verify first — most "diagnoses" are wrong

Kaal Sarp requires all seven planets hemmed within the Rahu–Ketu axis. Many people are frightened into this puja on a partial configuration that isn't the dosha at all. Confirm it in your chart before spending a rupee.

🕊️
Pitra Dosh
पितृ दोष · ancestral debt in the chart
Classical practices

Tarpan on Amavasya; shraddh ceremonies in Pitru Paksha; feeding crows and the needy on Saturdays; Gayatri japa dedicated to one's lineage; honouring living elders — which the tradition treats as the living half of ancestral remediation.

Consistency over scale

Pitra remedies reward regularity: a simple tarpan done every Amavasya outweighs one grand ceremony done once and forgotten.

Four rules before you begin any upay

॥ १ ॥

Strengthen friends, pacify adversaries

The first question is whether the troubling graha is a weak friend of your lagna (to be strengthened) or a strong adversary (to be cooled through daan and worship — never strengthened). Picking remedies from symptom lists instead of the chart is how people end up empowering the very planet troubling them.

॥ २ ॥

Let the dasha choose the target

Most charts have several imperfect placements. The one worth remedying now is the one whose planetary period is currently running — that's the affliction you're actually living. An affliction whose dasha is decades away can wait.

॥ ३ ॥

One practice, done completely

A single well-chosen observance carried through its full committed span beats five started and abandoned. Take it up for a defined period, review honestly at the end, then adjust — remedy is a discipline, not a subscription.

॥ ४ ॥

Start costless, escalate with evidence

The traditional ladder begins where risk is zero — conduct, mantra, small regular daan — and climbs toward vrat, formal puja and finally gemstones only if difficulty persists. Anyone selling you the ladder upside-down is selling, not prescribing.

A special word on gemstones

Every gemstone strengthens its planet — it does not pacify it. If that planet is a functional malefic in your chart, its stone will amplify exactly what you're trying to reduce. Blue sapphire worn on hearsay, red coral worn because "Manglik", hessonite worn from a YouTube video — these are the most common self-inflicted problems seen in consultations.

The rule is simple: no stone without a chart analysis. Your placements are visible free in Drishti; a gemstone recommendation, if your chart supports one at all, comes only after a proper reading.

Upay — common questions

Do remedies actually work?

The tradition holds that they do, through alignment of timing, material and intention — and it has centuries of accumulated practice behind it. Approached sincerely, the practices also build discipline, patience and mental clarity, which carry value on any worldview. What remedies are not is a substitute for effort and sound decisions.

Can I do upay at home without a pandit?

Yes — mantra, daan, vrat and wearing sacred items are all home practices. Elaborate rituals like Kaal Sarp nivaran, Navagraha havan or shraddh are best done with trained pandits so the vidhi is complete; that's what the online puja service is for.

What are Lal Kitab upay?

A separate remedy system with its own logic — unusual, house-specific measures like immersing items in flowing water or feeding particular creatures. It works within its own framework and shouldn't be casually mixed with classical Parashari prescriptions without guidance.

How long before a remedy "shows results"?

Practices are taken up for a defined span — often a mandala of about six weeks, or a run of the graha's own weekdays — and reviewed at completion. The honest markers are internal first: steadier mind, cleaner conduct in that life area, then easing of the external situation.

Someone told me to wear a stone. Should I?

Not without your chart being read. Gemstones are the one remedy family that can genuinely backfire. If you share your birth details, whether the stone helps or harms your chart can be checked before you spend on it.

Don't guess your remedy. Read your chart.
