The myth

Gemstones are often sold and worn as universally positive accessories — as if any stone, for any person, can only bring good fortune. That's the one assumption in this whole tradition worth being most careful about.

The actual mechanism

Every gemstone in this system is tied to a specific planet, and its entire function is to strengthen that planet's influence in the wearer's chart. That's precisely the problem when it's done without a chart check: if the relevant planet is a functional difficult influence for your particular Ascendant, or is already poorly placed in your chart, wearing its stone doesn't soften that placement — it amplifies it.

A real example

Someone wears a blue sapphire — associated with Saturn and often marketed as a stone for fast success — without checking whether Saturn is actually a friendly or unfriendly planet for their specific Ascendant. If it's unfriendly, the classical expectation isn't smoother progress; it's more, not fewer, obstacles, since the stone has strengthened a planet that wasn't working in their favour to begin with.

What to actually do with this

Never choose a gemstone from a generic "lucky stone for your number" list. This is one remedy where a proper chart reading genuinely changes the recommendation — the same stone that helps one person can work against another with a superficially similar chart.
